🔬 The debriefing of Thursday’s dramatic MLS action

We were fortunate to have plenty of action in MLS during the week, and Thursday night featured three dramatic games. Let’s take a look at what went down.

LAFC sent a clear message at the top of the Western Conference with a win against local rivals LA Galaxy in the Rose Bowl and fended off a late comeback.

Meanwhile, the Portland Timbers’ winning streak ended in Dallas when they lost a five-goal thriller with a makeshift defense. After the Timbers took an early lead, Dallas fought back with three second-half goals to take all three points and get back on the winning track.

Colorado also fought back from falling behind early in the second half against Sporting Kansas City thanks to a last-minute penalty from Đorđe Mihailović.

The winning goals in the 94th minute will always be remembered, even though they came from the penalty spot.

Thanks to the impressive victory on derby day, LAFC was able to extend its lead at the top of the Western League to three points and is only four points behind Inter Miami in the race for the Supporters Shield, even though the Black and Gold have played one game less against the team from South Florida.

FC Dallas took a step in the right direction with a comeback win against the red-hot Timbers, but is still five points behind the playoff spots in the Western Conference.

Meanwhile, the Rapids jumped back into third place with their dramatic win after recovering from last week’s loss to LAFC.

The MLS games continue to follow one after the other. On Saturday, the league is back with eight games, most notably the meeting between Inter Miami and FC Cincinnati at the top of the Eastern Conference table.
