An eight-year-old boy was stabbed to death by his own brother, whose parents were also stabbed to death in their Queens home in a July 4 massacre.
Just before 5:30 p.m., police were called to an “extremely small” unit at 147-25 94th Avenue in Jamaica, Queens, New York, after reports emerged that the mother of the family ran into the street covered in blood and screaming. When police arrived at the scene, they found a 20-year-old man holding his father in a headlock with a knife to his throat.
The attacker also died after being taken to the hospital and succumbing to his injuries. NYPD Chief John Chell described the officers’ actions after entering the property: “They repeatedly ordered the man to drop the knife, both in English and Spanish. He did not. An officer fired one shot that hit the target, saving the man’s life.”

The family of four was taken to the hospital, where the little boy and his murderer brother succumbed to their injuries, the New York Post reported.
The 29-year-old mother and 43-year-old father are being treated for their injuries. An 8-month-old baby who was also in the house was unharmed in the carnage. Police are still trying to determine whether the suspect and his young victim were brothers or stepbrothers and how the “tragic and horrific event” unfolded.
Elsewhere, an ugly incident occurred on July 4, when four people were bitten by the same shark in the waters off the south coast of Texas.

Texas Game Warden Captain Chris Dowdy claimed that four separate shark bite incidents have been recorded off South Padre Island. In one of the cases, South Padre Island police reported a call about a “severe” shark bite to the leg near the 4100 block of Gulf Boulevard around 11 a.m. local time on Thursday.
The man was treated at the scene by South Padre Island police and firefighters and then transported to a local hospital, police said. The man’s condition was not released by a police official.
