On July 3, 2024 local time, an issue was reported on Amazon’s official forum stating, “I can’t download books to my Kindle.” Tree bark consumer who reported the issue wrote, “I can’t download books. I have a good WiFi connection. The book shows up but when I click on it, it says ‘Queueing’ but when it reaches 1%, the download stops. This issue keeps happening. This issue occurs with all my books. I’ve tried restarting it, deregistering and re-registering my Kindle, but nothing solves the problem.” Several users have had similar issues, with some writing, “I’m very frustrated because I’m in the same situation.” To which an Amazon employee responded, “We are aware of this issue and our technical team is currently working on a solution.”

On July 3, e-book provider Good e-Reader reported that “Kindle is experiencing a system error.” When Good e-Reader contacted Amazon support, it received the response: “We are aware of the error and there is a problem with the server.” Amazon support responded at the time: “It will take at least 48 hours for the e-book download function to be restored, but it may take longer.”

According to Good e-Reader, the issue only affects the Kindle Paperwhite, Kindle Oasis, Kindle Signature Edition and Kindle Basic models, but the download feature works perfectly in the Kindle app for Android and iOS.

When technology media The Verge contacted Amazon, company spokeswoman Jackie Burke responded with a statement saying, “We recently received reports from some Kindle users that they were having trouble downloading e-books. This issue was quickly resolved,” stressing that the problem was resolved.

Additionally, Amazon’s official forum recommends that users who continue to experience issues restart their devices by holding down the power button for 40 seconds.

Amazon Kindle has recently been hit with reports of problems with its ‘ Send to Kindle ‘ special feature.
