Justin Timberlake’s attorney has issued a new statement regarding the entertainer’s recent arrest for driving while intoxicated (DWI). The 43-year-old was arrested in Sag Harbor, New York, on Tuesday (June 18) and released the same day after appearing in court.

“We look forward to vigorously defending Mr. Timberlake against these allegations. He will have plenty to say at the appropriate time. He is currently awaiting the full findings from the prosecution,” the singer’s attorney, Edward Burke Jr., said in a statement to Page Six.

According to court documents, Timberlake was arrested after a police officer initiated a traffic stop. He reportedly told police he was “drinking a martini and following my friends home.” The documents also noted that his eyes were “bloodshot and glassy” and his breath “smelled strongly of an alcoholic beverage.”

The officer reported that Timberlake was “unable to divide his attention,” exhibited “slowed speech,” was “unsteady on his feet,” and performed poorly on all standardized sobriety tests. Timberlake also reportedly refused to take a test three times, initially saying, “No, I’m not doing a chemical test.”

Timberlake was released without bail and will make his next virtual court appearance on July 26, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.
