Canelo Alvarez has another option for September as Chris Eubank Jr. could be his rival

Chris Eubank Jr. was added to the list of possible candidates for the return of Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez in September and is now reportedly the favorite to challenge the man from Guadalajara for his super middleweight belts.

On social media, some insiders are sure that Eubank Jr. and Canelo Álvarez could finalize the agreement very soon. Edgar Berlanga, David Benavidez and Jermall Charlo would be completely out of the running as possible rivals of the Mexican boxer, at least this year.

“Briton Chris Eubank Jr. has joined the list of possible rivals for Canelo and is now the favorite to sign a contract. He was a middleweight world champion and has a record of 33-3 with 24 KOs. He just knocked out Liam Smith, a former victim of the Jalisco, in revenge,” said ESPN’s Salvador Rodríguez on his X account, formerly known as Twitter.

This will change his plans and many believe it will not affect him

After Canelo Álvarez reached an agreement with his mandatory challenger William Scull for his International Boxing Federation (IBF) Belts, Edgar Berlanga and David Benavídez, both also mandatory challengers, were the strongest options for their second duel in 2024, but apparently that has changed.

A few days ago, Rodríguez reported that the Puerto Rican Berlanga was the one who had the best chances of being chosen by Canelo Álvarez and that Jermall Charlo was also in the plans. In addition, he stated that although the date on which the man from Guadalajara Since September 14 is Mexican Independence Day, the fight could be postponed for a few weeks.

Chris Eubank Jr., in his last fight in the ring, knocked out Liam Smith in the tenth round in the rematch that took place in September 2023 at the Manchester Arena in England
