Israel’s war on Gaza live: “Cautious optimism” as ceasefire talks resume | News on the Israel-Palestine conflict

The phone call between the US President and the Israeli Prime Minister lasted about 30 minutes and was attended by the National Security Advisor, the Secretary of State and the Vice President.

According to the White House, the purpose of the phone call was to clarify the final details of the release of the prisoners abducted on October 7 and to conclude the ceasefire negotiations.

The Prime Minister and President reviewed the draft agreement of the proposal that President Biden put forward in May. According to US officials, the framework agreement is now in place – but there are still some outstanding issues that need to be resolved.

The President and his national security team have been reviewing Hamas’s response over the past few days, and so far the United States response has been that Hamas’s proposals are constructive, but there are still some problems that need to be overcome.

What we do know, however, is that the President warmly welcomes the Israeli Prime Minister’s decision to send a delegation to Doha to negotiate with US, Qatari and Egyptian mediators.

They see this as an important opportunity to close the deal.
