Kesha releases first song “Joyride” since lawsuit against Dr. Luke – Hollywood Life

The “Praying” artist released her song “Joyride” on July 4th via her newly founded label Kesha Records.

The party is just beginning Kesha comes in and the 37-year-old pop singer is kicking off the Fourth of July with a brand new song. Her latest hit, “Joyride,” is the first single Kesha has released since settling her lawsuit against the record producer. Dr. LukasIn the new track, Kesha returns to her original pop roots.

“Are you a man? ‘Cause I’m a bitch / I’m already rich and I’m just looking for it (Mm) / This party sucks, I’m about to ditch it,” Kesha sings in the first verse before launching into the chorus, which goes, “Rev my engine ’til it purrs / Stay filthy, but I’ll come first / Beep-beep, bitch, I’m out / Get in, loser, for the joyride.”

The lyrics “get in, loser” apparently refer to the famous Girls Club – Be careful, they bite! Quote by Regina George, who says: “Get in, loser, let’s go shopping.”

The fun dance track comes a decade after Kesha accused Dr. Luke of drugging and sexually abusing her in 2014. She also claimed at the time that this caused her to develop an eating disorder. Dr. Luke denied her allegations and filed a countersuit against Kesha. In 2016, a judge dismissed all of the “Cannibal” singer’s abuse allegations, saying the allegations were statute-barred.

The heated legal battle between Kesha and Dr. Luke lasted for years until they reached a settlement last year. In June 2023, the former music collaborators released statements announcing the end of their brutal feud.

“Only God knows what happened that night,” Kesha said in her statement, referring to the night she was allegedly attacked. “As I have always said, I cannot share everything that happened. I look forward to closing this chapter of my life and starting a new one. I wish nothing but peace to everyone involved.”

For his part, Dr. Luke continued to deny the “Blow” singer’s allegations, saying in his statement: “While I appreciate Kesha again admitting that she cannot recount what happened that night in 2005, I am absolutely certain that nothing happened. I never drugged or assaulted her and would never do that to anyone. For the sake of my family, I have fought vigorously for nearly 10 years to clear my name. It is time for me to put this difficult matter behind me and move on with my life. I wish Kesha all the best.”

In December 2023, Kesha officially left Dr. Luke’s label Kemosabe Records after releasing her album Muzzle, She was contractually obligated to release the album on his label.
