4 underrated transfers from GM Chris Grier to the Miami Dolphins this offseason

This offseason, Miami Dolphins general manager Chris Grier didn’t have a lot of money at his disposal, but he made the most of what he had. Although Grier has taken a lot of criticism from fans over the past few years, few people can question how well he’s performed over the past few months.

People are still talking about the Calais Campbell signing, which came about after a while of speculation. That being said, there were a few stealthy moves from Grier that we liked, including these four:

When the Dolphins decided not to renew Connor Williams before last season, it was a risk. Williams played great football until his injury. People were worried that the injury could have been career-ending. If Williams hadn’t been injured, they probably would have re-signed him before free agency began.

Enter Aaron Brewer. Brewer, formerly of the Tennessee Titans, is an athletic, hard-hitting offensive lineman. He’s powerful at the point of attack and quick enough to pull after the snap and make blocks along the line. Brewer fits well in Butch Barry’s system and, barring injury, should be a Day 1 starter. The Dolphins hope that’s the case.

With Brewer calling the line signals and blocking assignments, the Dolphins’ performance at the position should not drop off. While Williams was good at what he did, Brewer is a far more natural center than Williams, who was a converted guard.

There’s still a chance the Dolphins could bring Williams back later in the year if he’s allowed to start practicing again, but that line now belongs to Brewer. As for Grier, he got a good player who is a bit underrated and under the radar, but has something to prove.
