FG Series introduces the electric racing car FG-Twin

The FG Series, the upcoming all-electric championship aimed at developing the next generation of talent on and off the track, has unveiled the car it will field from its inaugural season in 2025.

Designed by renowned designer Daniel Simon – who has previously worked for SEAT and Lamborghini, designed the 2011 HRT Formula 1 team livery and has appeared in films such as Tron Legacy and Top Gun Maverick – it is a modular car that will feature rear- and four-wheel drive, with both axles capable of delivering a peak power of 350kW. The power levels used depend on the category the car is racing in. The FG Series includes two levels of competition, FG1 and FG2.

“FG Series made me an intriguing offer: to design an advanced open-wheeled single-seater that would meet performance and regulation targets while offering modern automotive design,” said Simon. “As a car designer with a passion for motorsport, my job was to make it poster-worthy from every angle.

“The result is a machine with an iconic rocket-inspired shape, automotive crease lines, balanced proportions, a dynamic stance and science fiction lighting details. Such attention to aesthetics is rare in race cars and I hope this will delight racers and spectators of all generations alike.”

FG2 is the entry-level class, focusing on the first steps of driver development. In this category, the car runs at a lower power setting. FG1, on the other hand, is intended for more experienced drivers and offers more power, more downforce and more freedom in setup options.

One of the main goals of the FG Series is to reduce competition costs, so the cars are used by multiple drivers during race weekends in both championships.

But the car isn’t just about the competitors. For spectators, the car also has digital screens built into it that, according to the series, “provide the audience with dynamic key statistics such as battery level, race position and other performance information.”

“Today is a big day for the FG Series as we unveil the outstanding design of the FG-Twin. It is our centrepiece to showcase the FG Series and its groundbreaking solutions,” said Nick Heidfeld, Co-Founder and Head of Sport of the FG Series. “Defining the styling goals was a collaborative team effort, but exceeding them while meeting the latest safety requirements and technical specifications was only possible thanks to the exceptional skills of Daniel Simon.”

“Working with Daniel Simon is a dream come true for me. Our goal with the FG Series is to give talent from all over the world the opportunity to pursue their motorsport ambitions and we hope this is just the first of many dreams to come true.”
