Insights into the private life of Stefanos Tsitsipas: From the girlfriend of the tennis star to the famous sports family

Greek tennis star Stefanos Tsitsipas has easily made it into the second round of Wimbledon after defeating Japanese Taro Daniel in the first round.

The 25-year-old athlete is a force to be reckoned with. He is currently ranked 11th in the world, having previously reached his highest ranking to date, 3rd place.

As Stefanos advances at the prestigious London tennis tournament, we at HELLO! take a closer look at his girlfriend, tennis pro Paula, and his famous family…

Stefanos’ tennis star girlfriend

Stefanos is currently dating 26-year-old Spanish tennis pro Paula Badosa. The loved-up couple made their relationship public shortly after the 2023 Italian Open in Rome. Since then, the two have been a team on the court, winning their first mixed doubles match in the World Tennis League in December last year.

Stefanos’ girlfriend Paula is also a professional tennis player

“That was the test,” Paula joked after the victory. “Either we get divorced or things just keep getting better.” Stefanos agreed and said: “It’s a real pleasure for me to share the court with someone I’ve been following for several years. With my favorite tennis player.”

Although the couple briefly split in May, they rekindled their romance a few weeks later before the French Open, where they competed in the mixed doubles.

“It was hard for us to be apart and I went through some tough times too,” Stefanos explained. “I would say I didn’t handle it very well either because I felt the pressure of the tour and my work.”

The couple reunited after a brief separation

He continued about their brief separation: “After two or three weeks, I realized that she was a person who had been very supportive of me, and when she tried to talk to me, I felt how intense the love we felt for each other was. I realized that this relationship I have with Paula is completely different from any other relationship I’ve had in the past.”

His family’s tennis legacy

Stefanos was born into a tennis family. His mother Julia is a former WTA professional player and his father Apostolos is a trained tennis coach. The Greek tennis star was exposed to the sport at a young age and started playing at the age of three before taking lessons at the age of six.

He has three younger siblings: brothers Petros and Pavlos and a sister named Elisavet. Like Stefanos, the three have followed in the sporting footsteps of their famous parents.

“My mother knows a lot about tennis,” Tsitsipas told reporters in 2020. “Sometimes it can be a bit complicated when she wants to give me her own opinion or advice directly and then my father tells me something different.”

He continued: “We sat down and said, ‘Guys, this is my coach. Whatever opinions or thoughts you have, they have to be filtered through Apostolos, my father.’ It can get pretty hectic.”
