Taylor Swift could host the premiere of the 50th season of “SNL” thanks to an upcoming Eras tour break

You are probably packing for your long holiday weekend, with a swimsuit or two stowed in your Travel shopping bag. While you are trying to remember whether to bring your new TSA-approved bottle of sunscreen and the Cream Rouge You can’t live without it, so it’s a good idea to keep your attitude under control as well.

While I believe that most people are not intentionally inconsiderate when on vacation, that doesn’t mean we are immune from doing things that annoy other people. Whether it’s accidentally throwing sand in someone’s face while chasing a flying volleyball or shouting loudly next to someone who is just Book Club Here are 8 rude behaviors to avoid at the beach.

Rude behavior to avoid at the beach

Beach blanket fights

Sigh. I am not sure what it is, but we all claim “our” space in public. Sometimes it is harmless, but there are those who take it to the extreme by making sure that no one comes anywhere close to an area they are interested in. We have definitely seen this in parking lots, but it can happen on the beach too.

If you feel like you don’t want anyone near you on the beach, don’t be petty and don’t place your beach blanket in a way that leaves no room for the person. You can either verbally express that you want space, or you can try to find a spot that isn’t crowded.

The beach doesn’t really belong to you or other beachgoers, so try not to act like it.

The loud music pig

I don’t know many people who don’t like music. It’s something that unites people from all walks of life (hello, have you ever been to a Taylor Swift or Beyonce Concert) with an almost transcendent effect.

However, that does not mean that people on the beach want to hear your Summer Playlist when they may be trying to relax. Also, you don’t want to be the person who has no regard for children when you hear something that is rather explicit. We know that children come into contact with a number of things, but don’t be an asshole just to “live your life.”

Unless there’s an approved beach party going on, it’s best to put your Airpods in so as not to disturb others.

The reckless splashes

Splashing around in the water brings out everyone’s inner child, but not everyone enjoys getting splashed while sunbathing, reading a book, or just… in general. Some people might be forgiving, but others might find it irritating.

To be considerate of the crowds, hold your Splash War away from the street so you don’t disturb others.

Heavy smokers

I know you’re an adult who can do whatever you want. The thing is, people don’t always want to smell the smell of smoke while they’re trying to relax.

Forget the fact that people may want to get some fresh air, but you also don’t know who might have asthma. I’m sure you don’t want to be the person who accidentally triggers an asthma attack in someone through your secondhand smoke.

Parents who let their children do destructive things

I’m a parent whose toddler is very busy, so I understand that kids need to get rid of excess energy. However, there’s no harm in teaching them to be considerate of others. There’s nothing cute or funny about letting your kids disrupt a volleyball game that’s not theirs or smash someone’s sandcastle just for fun.

If it helps, try to think of fun activities that the whole family can do together. You can build your own sandcastles, fly kites, or even take part in a scavenger hunt on the beach!

People who ignore their dog’s poop

Every living creature needs to go to the bathroom at some point, so no one will be mad if your dog has to do his business. The problem is that some people, for some reason, refuse to pick up their dog’s poop in public.

If you let your dog voluntarily go to the bathroom on the beach and pretend you don’t see it, it’s pretty annoying. I’m sure anyone taking a walk on the beach won’t appreciate stepping in a fresh (or old) pile of poop. Just pick it up and throw it away, OK?

Parents who leave their children’s dirty diapers on the beach or in the sea

I don’t have much to say about this, except please spare everyone. I don’t know why people keep doing this, but it’s unhygienic and extremely uncool. Find a trash can to dispose of the diapers or see if you can change them in a nearby restroom, but please don’t expose anyone to your child’s feces.

Excessive public displays of affection

Freedom of speech is one of those things that people sometimes overdo—especially when it comes to public displays of affection. If you’re heading to the beach to have a physical make-out session with your partner, don’t do it. No one wants to see (or hear) the two of you getting hot and heavy with each other while they’re trying to relax. Save that for a hotel room or the beach house you’re staying at.
