Why Taylor Swift won’t throw her legendary Independence Day party this year

Independence Day may be a special day in every country, but for Swifties it took on a special meaning thanks to Taylor Swift’s legendary Fourth of July Independence Day party.

But this year, Taylor will not be hosting her annual celebration – and for good reason. The singer will perform at the Johan Cruijff Arena in Amsterdam on July 4, 5 and 6. She will be joined by longtime friend Hayley Williams, the frontwoman of Paramore, who are supporting Taylor on the Eras Tour.

The Eras Tour, which began in March 2023, has already broken numerous records after becoming the first tour ever to gross over $1 billion and is scheduled to end on December 8, 2024.

But for Taylor, this tour is something very special. She said she has “never had as much fun in her life as she did on the Eras Tour. It is by far the most exciting experience of my life.”

Every year, Taylor invites her celebrity friends to her Rhode Island mansion for an epic celebration. Past guests at the extravagant party have included members of her girl gang – Gigi Hadid, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, Cara Delevingne, Haim, Jaime King and Selena Gomez.

Will Taylor spend the 4th of July with Travis?

Travis Kelce may have to wait another year to make his debut as Taylor’s escort for the Rhode Island event, but he will no doubt remain busy with his own plans. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end became animated as he spoke with his brother Jason about their favorite Fourth of July traditions. New heights Podcast – and he revealed that he loves fireworks.

Travis explained that his favorite memory of the holiday was “setting off fireworks” and affirmed, “I’m a fireworks man now.”

According to his brother, they didn’t grow up in a “fireworks household” – for Ed and Donna Kelce, it was a “hard no.” This actually led to Jason’s own aversion to the explosives.

“I’m not going to lie. I don’t like lighting those things near me. I’m on my way to the fireworks… I’m terrified of them,” Jason confessed, admitting that he still loves watching them.

Taylor’s Independence Day parties through the years

Taylor famously hosted a party every year from 2013 to 2016, taking a break between 2017 and 2022 before reviving the time-honored tradition in 2023. The first time it was held in 2013, Taylor’s Independence Day celebration was a smaller-scale party featuring the dancers from her Red tour.

In 2014, the party saw stars like Lena Dunham, Jaime King, Emma Stone and Ingrid Michaelson stop by the Rhode Island estate to bake cakes and go swimming.

The following year, Taylor was joined by her friends Ed Sheeran, Gigi, Joe Jonas (who was dating the supermodel at the time), Martha Hunt and the Haim sisters. The singer’s then-boyfriend Calvin Harris also joined in the fun.

Taylor revived the tradition in 2023

Taylor’s 2016 party attracted attention after her then-boyfriend Tom Hiddleston wore a tank top with the words “I Heart TS” while swimming in the ocean. Karlie Kloss, Ruby Rose, Uzo Aduba, Cara, Gigi and Blake also attended the iconic event.

Fans may have understood why Taylor kept a low profile over the holidays in 2017 while preparing for the release of her album Reputation – a reflection of her tarnished media image and feuds with other stars. But Swifties were no doubt overjoyed when Taylor hosted the 2023 celebration, accompanied by Haim sisters Jaime, Selena and Ashley Avignone.
