Michigan State Spartans target Fameitau Siale discusses recruiting

The Michigan State Spartans have begun to target the Class of 2026 more closely after making contact with the class on June 15. One of the big names in the class is edge rusher Fameitau Siale from O’Dea High School in Washington. Siale has a lot to excite scouts: an explosive 6’4″, 250-pound frame and high potential.

Siale is the No. 31 edge rusher in the class and the fifth-best player in the state, according to 247Sports. Nationally, Siale is ranked No. 397. With a good final season, he could make a big jump. The traits are there, he already has a great physique to work with, and that’s one of the things that drives him, he told me.

“I’m trying to increase my sacks, I’m trying to get a lot of sacks this year and get a lot of tackles for loss,” Siale said.

Siale prides himself on competing well against blockers when coming off the side. He wants to increase his speed for the college level and said coaches have told him the same thing. A highly touted rising junior with great physical attributes and a strong motor, Siale was contacted by many schools, including Michigan State, when the clock struck midnight on June 15.

“It was great. I got letters via email and Twitter. It was just great,” Siale said.

The first time Siale heard about the Spartans was when defensive line coach Legi Suiaunoa called him. Siale said he really liked Suiaunoa, who made him an offer when he was still coaching at Oregon State.

“He’s a good coach, he knows exactly what he’s doing,” Siale told me. “He had me do drills (at Oregon State), just him and me. I can tell he really wants me to come to Michigan State.”

Siale said the Spartans are courting him intensely. He said they are one of his top teams right now.

Siale’s teammate at O’Dea, edge rusher David Schwerzel, is also a top player in the 2026 class. Both were heavily targeted by the Spartans, and Schwerzel attended a Spartans camp while touring with Ford Sports Performance, a group that Siale is also a part of. Siale is recovering from a hamstring injury and wanted to let it heal, so he did not participate in the Midwest tour.
