Concert opens summer series

Schooner Fare plays to a full house at McLaughlin Garden on June 27th, opening Homestead’s Thursday Night in the Garden music series. Posted

PARIS – On Thursday, June 27, Schooner Fare, one of Maine’s most popular bands, kicked off a summer of music at McLaughlin Garden in South Paris with an outdoor June concert sponsored by Bearfoot Realty and season sponsor Stephens Memorial Hospital – Maine Health.

Praised for their captivating harmonies and winning stage presence, Chuck and Steve Romanoff delighted a capacity audience at the historic McLaughlin Barn as they performed their repertoire of traditional, folk and original songs. As McLaughlin Garden Executive Director Karla Horecky shared, “We were very fortunate to host such a well-known band as we kicked off a summer of wonderful music at McLaughlin Garden.”

The first of five performances in the McLaughlin Garden’s Thursday Night in the Garden series, featuring jazz duo John Smedley and Tim Clough, will soon begin on Thursday, July 11. The following Thursday, July 18, the Chicks with Sticks Steel Drum Band will transport us to the islands with their whimsical tunes and concertgoers are guaranteed to leave with a smile on their faces.

Other events in the Thursday Night in the Garden series include a disco dance party with DJ Peter G on July 25 and line dancing with Dee Dee Allen on August 1. On August 8, multi-instrumentalists Vanessa Jones and Jerry Adams of Sky Blue Canoe will perform folk, bluegrass and original music that will delight audiences of all ages. The Thursday Night in the Garden series is generously sponsored by Oxford Federal Credit Union and seasonal sponsor Stephens Memorial Hospital – Maine Health.
