PlayStation unveils new action figure series featuring some of the biggest names

This week, an officially licensed PlayStation action figure of Aloy from Horizon Forbidden West has surfaced on Amazon, available for purchase now and releasing on August 1, 2024. It turns out Amazon may have been a bit hasty, as PlayStation has since confirmed that Aloy is part of a new collection that has turned several characters from some of PlayStation’s biggest games into action figures, including recreations from God Of War and Ghost Of Tsushima.

The Shapes Collection, called Aloy, will include action figures of Kratos and Atreus from God of War, the hero Jin Sakai from Ghost of Tsushima, and Aloy’s close friend Varl, also from the Horizon games, when pre-orders begin. It seems that the Aloy figure was the first to be revealed and the first to go on sale, as she is quite a bit more elaborate than the rest of the collection, with 42 points of articulation and weapons and other accessories so you can customize her face and pose.

The PlayStation Blog says the other figures in the collection have between 24 and 34 points of articulation and come with two to four accessories, depending on the action figure. Pre-orders for the additional figures will open on July 15, with the full release scheduled for September. However, it’s unclear if the quartet will be available all at once or if pre-orders will be phased in over the course of the summer.

PlayStation God Of War Kratos Action Figure

The PlayStation Kratos action figure makes the God of War a collectible toy and is part of the Shapes Collection. The figure is 31 times articulated and features Kratos’ famous weapons, including his Leviathan Axe and Blades of Chaos.

The action figures will be available on the PlayStation Gear Store – as well as Amazon in the US – and while you can’t secure yours yet, the store pages have already gone live. These pages confirmed that the four other figures will be priced quite a bit cheaper than Aloy’s, at $29.99 each for Kratos, Atreus, Varl and Jin. PlayStation isn’t saying whether this is a one-off promotion or if more PlayStation action figures will be included in the Shapes Collection, but with characters like Nathan Drake and Ellie missing, it’s safe to assume more will be added if they sell well.

PlayStation Horizon Forbidden West Aloy Action Figure

The official PlayStation Aloy action figure is based on the hero’s appearance in Horizon Forbidden West. The figure comes with 15 accessories – four weapons, five face plates, and six pairs of hands. It also features 42 points of articulation so you can recreate Aloy’s action poses from the game.

Notably, Astro Bot is missing from this first batch of five figures. With follow-up figures set to launch in September, the same month that Astro Bot launches exclusively for PS5, you’d think it would be a no-brainer to include the little guy in this collection. PlayStation has been releasing new Astro Bot merchandise ahead of the mascot’s first full non-VR game in two months, and it’s not too late to grab free Astro avatars for PS4 and PS5.
