Fountain Creek Nature Center is hosting a series of events this month

FOUNTAIN — Fountain Creek Nature Center is hosting a series of events this month. The nature center is located on Pepper Grass Lane near the intersection of U.S. 85 and Mesa Ridge Parkway.

Mindfulness exercises for photography and creativity:
Saturday, July 13, 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Join photographer Mike Pach to discover ways to improve your photography and creativity. The workshop consists of three parts: a lecture, outdoor exercises, and experience sharing. All skill levels and camera types, including cell phones, are welcome. Advance registration of $25 per person is required.

Nature Adventure: Crazy about Poplars:
Thursday and Friday, 18 and 19 July, 9:00 – 10:30 a.m.

Children ages 3 to 6 can enjoy puppet shows, arts and crafts, hands-on activities and discovery tours on a trail when accompanied by an adult. Advance registration is required for $3 per person (including siblings and adults).

Annual Firefly Festival and Night Hike:
Friday and Saturday, 19 and 20 July, 8:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.

In past years, fireflies have been spotted in the wetlands near the Nature Center! Learn about fireflies, make a craft, and hike to find fireflies in the park. The Nature Center says the recommended age for this event is five years and older. A prepayment of $5 per person or $4 per member is required.

2s & 3s outdoors: Butterfly Boogie:
Thursday and Friday, 25 and 26 July, 9:00 – 10:15 a.m.

Explore nature with your two- or three-year-old through activities, a story, and a short hike. Advance registration is required for $3 per person, including siblings and adults.

Monarch Pinning Workshop:
Saturday, July 27, 10:00 – 11:30 am

While the milkweeds are in full bloom, the nature center notices monarch butterflies passing through the park on their multi-generational migration to Mexico where they overwinter. Learn more about these insects and how you can take a specimen home to keep! Advance registration of $30 per person is required.
