Uber Boat allows its customers to book private yachts and water limousines in Europe

Uber Boat allows its customers to book private yachts and water limousines in Europe

If you thought Uber Black was the fanciest thing ever, you’re wrong.

The ride-hailing company is expanding its Uber Boat offerings this month, including the Uber Yacht in European hotspot Ibiza. On the Mediterranean island, you can book a private Sunseeker cruiser boat with space for up to eight people for a day. The eight-hour trip costs 1,600 euros ($1,723) and includes a personal skipper, a bottle of champagne and local snacks – and of course Uber transfers to and from the yacht.

“At Uber, we want to give our customers the power to go wherever they’re traveling,” said Anabel Diaz, the company’s vice president of mobility for EMEA, in a statement. “This summer, we’re adding a range of bucket-list nautical experiences to the Uber app in some of Europe’s hottest destinations, so vacationers can make the most of their trip on the high seas. Whether it’s sailing around Ibiza on your own private yacht or exploring the Venetian Lagoon by boat, we’re excited to add some Uber magic to our customers’ vacations this summer.”

Elsewhere, Uber is offering travelers even more ways to explore the water. As Diaz mentioned, the company is launching “limo boats” in Venice this month. The on-demand vehicles, which start at 120 euros ($129) per ride, seat up to six people and are available daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. In Greece – where Uber Boat first launched in Mykonos last year – the company is expanding its reach, adding Athens, Corfu and Santorini to its service.

Uber is even taking its water transport to more cosmopolitan areas: During the first part of the Summer Olympics, the all-electric Uber Cruise boats will take passengers on an hour-long tour of the Seine. The free ride passes famous landmarks like Notre Dame, the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower, which you can enjoy with a glass of champagne in hand.

Uber Boat’s expansion comes as the brand continues to expand into the European market. In countries such as Spain and Greece, demand for the company’s services rose by 55 percent last year. And in Ibiza, more than 800,000 people used the Uber app last year.

Then there might be competition for the use of this Uber yacht.
