Taylor Swift’s jet comes under fire from environmental activists ahead of Wembley Eras Tour

Taylor Swift’s Wembley Eras Tour is just around the corner, but a recent incident has added to the pre-show excitement. Swift’s private jet became an unwitting target during a protest at London airport. Eco-activists from the group Just Stop Oil doused several private jets with orange paint, and Swift’s plane was reportedly among those in attendance. The Cruel Summer singer’s jet is believed to have landed just hours before the “second anti-fossil fuel protest.”

Taylor Swift’s name has been added to a growing list of stars under scrutiny for their use of private jets. As concerns over carbon emissions grow and global warming becomes widely alarmed, her use of a private jet during the Eras Tour has reportedly riled climate activists.

Just Stop Oil eco-activists Jennifer Kowalski and Cole Macdonald are said to have attacked several private jets at London’s Stansted Airport, shortly after the pop star’s plane landed there ahead of her concert tour. The incident occurred at around 5am and two activists entered the airfield by cutting through the fence and marking the planes orange with fire extinguishers filled with orange paint.

A video shared by the activists shows them cutting through the fence and entering the airfield. The activists claim: “Two Just Stop Oil supporters painted several private jets on the airfield where Taylor Swift’s jet had landed just hours earlier.” While it is unclear if their plane was also painted orange, the protesters shared images of the incident alongside their statement.

This isn’t the first time that well-known figures have been criticized for their regular use of private aircraft. Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Leonardo DiCaprio and many others have all been criticized for their frequent private jet travel. In Swift’s case, however, her constant, stop-to-stop touring schedule is the main focus. The 14-time Grammy winner will next perform at Wembley Stadium on Friday.

According to Macdonald, “we live in two worlds: one where billionaires live in luxury and can fly away in private jets. The other world where countless millions of people are forced into intolerable conditions.” The protester added that “this system, which allows a few to accumulate extreme wealth at the expense of everyone else, is destroying the conditions necessary to sustain human life in a rapidly accelerating, never-ending ‘summer of cruelty.'”
