Bluishcreated and written by Joe Brumm, premiered its first season on ABC Kids in 2018 and follows the titular anthropomorphic Blue Heeler puppy and his family.

Since then, two more seasons have aired and the series has been released internationally on Disney+.

The theme song of the show attracts a lot of attention as it is very popular among young viewers.

The series has also spawned two soundtracks. Bluey: Dance Mode! was released in 2023 and was a sequel to Bluey: The Soundtrack, Bush’s soundtrack album for the series’ first season, released in early 2021.

The soundtrack debuted at number one on the ARIA Albums Chart in February, becoming the first children’s album to top the charts in Australia, and won Best Children’s Album at the 2021 ARIA Music Awards that same year.

The composer of the title song – and all the music Bluish – is Joff Bush and he is a Brisbane based musician.

Executive producer Daley Pearson asked him to compose the music for the show. The two were long-time friends and classmates at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music and the Australian Film, Television and Radio School – they had also worked together since their teens.

However, Bush almost turned down the role because he initially had no interest in making music for a show aimed at preschool children.

According to RompersHowever, this changed when he met series creator Brumm and became emotional in the first few episodes.

He told the publication: “I was just in tears,” he says. “I thought to myself, ‘Well, I have to do this now.'”

He said of his process: “I love novelty and the reason why Bluish What motivates me so much is that we get to play with so many different types of music and new ideas and different approaches. It makes me really excited to make it. Every episode we get to start over and try to create a completely different world. But yeah, which was a very bad decision in terms of my sleep pattern. In terms of satisfaction, it’s great.”
Bush’s work on the episodes “Cricket” and “Dance Mode” won the Music for Screen Award and the Children’s Music Award at this year’s Queensland Music Awards.
