Michigan residents begin online voting for new ‘I Voted’ sticker

Mitten State voters are showing their electoral pride in a different way this year.

For the first time, Michigan residents were able to vote online on their favorite designs for the 2024 presidential election “I Voted” stickers.

In May, Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson launched a contest inviting students and residents to submit designs for the new look. The idea for the sticker contest came from members of Secretary Benson’s Michigan Collegiate Student Advisory Task Force.

Contestants submitted all sorts of sticker designs, from lighthouses and bridges to eagles and werewolves. Some stickers were drawn with colored pencils and crayons, while others were created digitally.

Benson encouraged voters to leave the polling station with pride.

“Every Michigan voter should walk out of the polls with pride, knowing their voice was heard. Now we can share that pride in our democracy with a sticker designed by some of our state’s talented and creative artists,” Benson said in a statement.

Voters can select three of their favorite stickers from each of the following categories on michigan.gov: elementary and middle school, high school, and general admission. Twenty-five designs were selected for each category from over 480 submissions.

In August, the three winners from each division will be announced and receive special recognition from Minister Benson.

The winning designs can be ordered from local officials in time for the November election.

The voting phase ends on Wednesday, July 31, at 23:59
