Russian airstrike on Kharkiv: 14 injured, including a toddler

Russia bombed a residential area in Kharkiv, wounding 14 people, including a two-week-old baby and an 8-year-old boy, the Kharkiv region prosecutor’s office reported. The attack occurred at around 4 p.m., with three strikes targeting the outskirts of the city and Kyivskyi district.

The attack damaged residential buildings, apartment buildings, a post office and a car repair shop.

“The attacks were carried out with UMPB D-30 (Unified Inter-Service Gliding Munition, caliber 30 cm) bombs fired from the Batratskaya Dacha in the Belgorod Oblast of Russia,” the statement says.

The Russians have been using this modernized ammunition since March 2024.

Kharkiv’s proximity to the Russian border (30 km) makes the city vulnerable to such attacks. Ukraine urgently needs modern air defense systems to counter these threats from Russian aircraft operating in Russian airspace.
