Rapper must have all future songs approved by the government

Rapper BG, who was recently released from an 11-year prison sentence for weapons possession, has reportedly been ordered to seek government approval for all future songs.

The rapper, whose real name is Christopher Dorsey, was arrested for weapons possession in 2009 and eventually sentenced to 14 years in prison for two counts of weapons possession and one count of obstruction of justice. After his release, he was ordered to have all future lyrics approved by the government to ensure they did not “contradict his rehabilitation goals,” according to the AV Club.

BG must submit all future songs to the court. If the lyrics are deemed to glorify violence or violate the terms of his rehabilitation, prosecutors can tighten the conditions of his release.

Prosecutors had initially pushed for the rapper to be banned from “promoting and glorifying future gun violence and murder.” However, Judge Susie Morgan rejected that idea and instead ordered that BG submit all future songs for approval.

BG, short for “Baby Gangsta,” is on probation and was summoned to court after giving a concert with Boosie, another convicted felon.

The conditions of his release prohibit the rapper from associating with other convicted felons, the Guardian.
