Travis Kelce talks all about his surprise guest appearance on the Eras Tour.

In Wednesday’s episode of his podcast “New Heights,” the Kansas City Chiefs tight end told the story of how he came on stage with his girlfriend Taylor Swift during an Eras Tour concert at Wembley Stadium in London.

Kelce, 34, revealed that the June 23 appearance was his idea – and shared his biggest fear about it.

“The only thing I told myself is, ‘Don’t drop the baby,'” he said. “Don’t drop Taylor when you walk across that damn sofa. The golden rule was: Don’t drop Taylor. Get her safely onto the sofa.”

He added that his “number one goal” was not to mess up the show, noting that in the end, “I didn’t disappoint Taylor and that’s all that really matters.”

Kelce came onstage during Swift’s “Tortured Poets Department” performance to sing a part where she has to be resuscitated to sing “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart,” a song about continuing to perform despite heartbreak. Wearing a tuxedo and top hat, Kelce played the role of someone trying to get Swift to continue the show, at one point picking her up and carrying her to a couch.

During a conversation in New Heights, the NFL star recalled that he had suggested Swift perform on the Eras Tour, although he initially had something else in mind.

“I mentioned it to Tay first,” he said. “I thought, ‘How funny would it be if I just rolled off on one of the bikes in the ’89’ era?’ She started laughing. She was like, ‘Would you seriously be willing to do something like that?’ And I was like, ‘You are, what? I’d love to do that. Are you kidding me?'”

Swift then “found the perfect part of the show” to participate in, Kelce said, joking that it was the “safest option” to avoid the risk of colliding with one of the dancers on a bike. He also noted that he had “seen the show enough times” to know all the choreography, so Swift “might as well let me work here.”

Kelce also recalled feeling “tiny” on stage because it was “much bigger than I could have ever imagined.”

However, he said it was an “absolute blast” and an “honor” to be at the concert, and revealed that his tap dancing on stage was inspired by Jim Carrey in “Dumb and Dumber.”

Travis Kelce reveals how he began to fall in love with the “very confident” Taylor Swift

The Wembley Stadium show was Kelce’s first appearance on stage with his girlfriend during the Eras Tour, although he has attended the concert many times since they began dating last year. Kelce recently spoke about the relationship on the Bussin’ with the Boys podcast, saying he is “not here to hide anything” because “that’s my girl, that’s my woman” and “I’m proud of it.”

He also revealed that he “really fell in love with Swift” when he saw “how genuine she is with friends (and) family,” adding, “With so much attention, it can get crazy for someone, but she stays so relaxed and calm and I can definitely admire that.”
