Twin City Lions Club appoints officers

by BRANDON JONES

The Twin City Lions Club recently held its annual induction and Ladies’ Night. The meeting was held at the Lions Clubhouse in Twin City, which has been almost completely renovated in recent years. Members invited their spouses or other family members to attend this annual tradition of the club. Papa Bucks in Metter provided the delicious meal for the club. Catering consisted of hearty beef brisket along with grilled chicken thighs, a potato bar with all the fixings, salad and banana pudding. The founder of Papa Bucks was Von Johnson, a long-time member of the Lions Club, and we were more than happy to be able to support the business he founded. Highlights of the past year were discussed with all in attendance, including John William Turner being inducted into the Lions Club Hall of Fame, Mr. Turner and Loy D. Cowart being presented with their 60-year membership pins, and all the various organizations, causes and scholarships that the club has donated money to during the past year. The club is grateful for the support of the community through activities such as pancake dinners in the fall and spring and the purchase of the annual community calendar. These fundraisers, along with renting out the clubhouse, are the primary ways we raise money for the community. The Lions Club has been serving the Twin City area since 1964.
