Taipei, July 3 (CNA) — Hong Kong-born Andy Lau (劉德華) announced Wednesday that he will perform in Taiwan for the first time since 2013, with four shows at the Taipei Arena from October 31 to November 3.

The concerts are part of Lau’s upcoming “Today… is the Day” tour, which begins in Shanghai on July 5.

The tour takes Lau to Chinese-speaking countries as well as Singapore and Malaysia.

In a press release, Lau was quoted as saying, “It felt good to be able to practice his dancing and singing skills for the tour, even though he had to wear a face mask.”

“It has always been a dream of mine to give a concert,” he said. “Because only under such conditions can I say loudly and clearly to every single audience member, face to face, that I am very, very, very grateful to each and every one of you.”

Lau said there have been many changes in the world in recent years.

He added that he hopes his tour will inspire others to appreciate each day and live a happy life.

Before the upcoming Taipei concerts, Lau’s last performances at the Taiwan Arena were in 2008 during his “Wonderful World” tour and then in 2013 during his “Always” tour.

Lau has been in the industry for 43 years and has become a star through his singing, dancing and acting talent.

Over the course of his career, the 62-year-old heartthrob has recorded over 100 music albums and appeared in over 160 films.
