High-ranking Hezbollah field commander killed in Israeli attack
A senior field commander of the Lebanese terror group Hezbollah was killed in an Israeli strike outside the southern Lebanese city of Tyre on Wednesday, two security sources told Reuters.
The target was the commander of Hezbollah’s Aziz unit, Abu Ali Nasser.
According to the sources, the commander was responsible for part of Hezbollah’s operations along the border, where there have been exchanges of fire between the group and the Israeli army since October, parallel to the Gaza war.
They said he had the same rank and importance to the group as Taleb Abdallah, who was killed in an Israeli strike in June and was the highest-ranking Hezbollah field commander killed by the Israeli army in the last eight months of hostilities.
Will Hezbollah launch another massive rocket attack?
In retaliation for Abdallah’s killing, Hezbollah fired its heaviest drone and rocket barrages. The group did not immediately comment on the high-ranking commander killed on Wednesday.
There was initially no comment from the Israeli military.
This is an evolving story.
