BMW is in top form this year: the company just launched the powerful yet heavy brand new M5 sedan, is reportedly reviving the 6 Series, and has unveiled many other new or updated cars and SUVs.

The 2025 BMW Z4 has received a six-speed manual transmission as its biggest update for the new model year – but it is only available on the Z4 M40i trim and costs $3,500 more than the automatic as part of the manual package, which also brings other benefits.

The 2025 BMW X5 will receive a special 25th Anniversary Edition to celebrate a quarter century of the nameplate with an off-road package. The all-new compact luxury crossover X3 Off-road vehicle joins the ranks with a bold new design language. If you want something a little more “mild,” you might want to check out the updated 3 and 4 Series models, or the high-performance M3 sedan and M4 coupe, which also gets the new M4 CS variant.

And finally, America also gets the slightly revised 2 Series plus M2, which comes with new exterior packages, more power for the M2, a tweaked interior, and an improved infotainment system. Other markets also get the all-new BMW 1 Series, and it comes with a 312-horsepower M135 hot hatchback that we can’t have in America, along with a quirky new design.

Beauty is always in the eye of the beholder, so you might like the new design of the 1 Series. Don’t bemoan the fact that it’s not available in America, because there will be a way around that problem – rumors say the next generation of the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe is already in the works and, as the latest spy photos show, is undergoing intensive testing. Of course, when that happens, the imaginative world of digital car content creators will want a piece of the pie.

Here, for example, is Sugar Chow, the virtual artist, better known as Sugar design_1 on social media, who decided to CGI his vision for the potential next-generation 2 Series Gran Coupe based on the spied prototypes. The new generation F74 is likely to launch this fall as a cheaper alternative to the BMW 3 Series, and the Bavarians even skipped the usual Life Cycle Impulse (aka facelift) for the outgoing F44 model to ensure they can get the second generation out as soon as possible.

Well, it’s already out there – albeit unofficially and purely hypothetical, although this pixel master is known for making his renderings look like the real thing. They’re not, so take all these POVs with a grain of salt until BMW makes the next 2 Series Gran Coupe official. Until then, you can still have the current model, sans CGI inspiration from the quirky 1 Series and M135, starting at $38,400 in America if you don’t want to wait for the next iteration.
