Alan welcomed Queer Eye star Jonathan van Ness to his podcast, Life’s a Beach, after a memorable backstage meeting while watching Adele, a close friend of the comedian, perform.
Alan Carr recalled being “kidnapped” by the cast of Queer Eye while in Las Vegas to see Adele.
The comedian said he went to see the Someone Like You singer with his girlfriend and fellow TV star Angellica Bell during her performance at Caesars Palace in May. When the 48-year-old went backstage, he met the stars of the hit Netflix show, including hairdresser Jonathan van Ness.
As a guest on Alan’s podcast, Life a Beach, Jonathan said he and Alan immediately “fell madly in love.” Alan explained on his podcast: “I go to Adele concerts with my girlfriend Angellica and we go backstage and wait until we can take our seats.
“You and the Queer Eye guys were there and we were screaming, then you basically kidnapped us. We fell in love.”
Jonathan said he and Alan hung out the day after the concert, “kidnapping” the comedian from his busy schedule. Alan recalled the fun night: “You invited me and Angelica to this.”
“You kidnapped us, it was this gay minibus with neon lights, and then we went to a club called Parano and danced harder than we ever had in our lives. Angelica and I said we had climaxed.
“We said we could have just gone home after meeting you and seeing Adele because there was no way we could repeat that magic. Isn’t that sweet?”
Jonathan, 37, said his night with Alan was “special” and described seeing Adele as a “religious experience”. He gushed: “Amazing doesn’t speak highly enough, I laughed, I cried, I felt every emotion I’ve ever needed to feel.”
After seeing the “Hello” singer in Vegas, the hair guru caught Taylor Swift’s performance at Wembley Stadium in June. Celebrity fans and friends, including the Prince of Wales and his children, Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan and model Cara Delevingne, joined Swift’s boyfriend, NFL star Travis Kelce, his brother Jason and her parents, and her parents Andrea and Scott Swift as she performed in front of nearly 90,000 people at Wembley Stadium.
The Fab Five, including lifestyle coach Karamo Brown, food and wine guru Antoni Porowski, fashion consultant Tan France and interior design expert Bobby Berk, won their eleventh Emmy for best structured reality program in January. Queer Eye is back on Netflix for season eight, but it will be the last with Bobby.
The 42-year-old made it clear that his exit had nothing to do with a falling out between him and Tan. “Queer Eye was the greatest gift I could have never imagined,” said Berk.
“It was a life-changing moment. I am leaving behind something that is a big part of my life. Even though it is my decision, it was not an easy one.”
Jeremiah Brent will replace Bobby in the ninth season of Queer Eye, which Netflix says will be set in Las Vegas. Filming for the upcoming season reportedly began earlier this year.
