Dead Rising’s original voice actor Frank West says he wasn’t asked to return for the remaster

The original voice of Frank West in Dead Rising has said that he was not asked to reprise the role in the upcoming remake of the game.

Capcom announced last week that it is working on Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, a current-generation remaster of its 2006 Xbox 360 game.

However, fans noticed that Frank seemed to have a different voice in the remake of the trailer, which was confirmed by his original voice actor.

As reported by user X FrankByDaylightVoice actor Terence J Rotolo was asked by another user on Instagram why he was not cast in the role in the remaster.

Rotolo responded by confirming that Capcom had not asked him to reprise the role, but said he did not know why that was the case.

“The answer to your question is that I don’t have an answer,” Rotolo said. “All I can say is that I’m grateful for every opportunity to bring Frank to life.”

“An actor’s job is to show up prepared, do their best and then move on to the next mission when called. I just wasn’t called for that mission. The reasons for that are up to the producers.”

While it’s unclear why Rotolo’s role wasn’t recast, one X-user pointed out that the situation is similar to that of Alyson Court, who played Claire Redfield in Resident Evil 2 and reprised the role in five more games, but then wasn’t cast in the Resident Evil 2 remake.

Court claimed in a YouTube video at the time that she was asked if she would like to reprise the role and replied that she “absolutely would love to,” but was then allegedly told that Capcom had chosen a non-union actor instead.

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster will be released on September 19th. The remaster uses the RE Engine and includes quality of life improvements such as auto-saving, reworked controls, and an improved user interface.
