The strike until the lights go out

The indie rock trio The Strike has announced their new album. Until the lights go outfull of overwhelming anthems, is out on September 27th via Nettwerk. The band’s upcoming release sees them delve into 1980s synth landscapes with a modern twist, and their latest single “Just Like Paradise” is no exception. Listen to the song now below.

“Going into a real studio with a real producer was something we had never done before and we just wanted to take everything to a new level,” Says David Maemone (guitar, keys). So in the summer of 2023 they recorded Until the Lights Go Out with producer John Fields (Jonas Bros, Miley Cyrus, Switchfoot) in his studio in Minneapolis. “We have a nice division of labor between the three of us,” adds singer Chris Crabb. “Jay and David are more producer-musicians – and great multi-instrumentalists – and I’m more focused on lyrics and melodies. They put together demos and send them to me, like, ‘Hey, does this speak to you?'”

“Just Like Paradise” follows previous singles “Down”, “Heroes of the Heart”, “The Getaway”, “Soundtrack” and “Just Friends”, all of which are taken from the upcoming release. Reflecting on “Just Like Paradise”, David says: “Someone said it reminded them of listening to Mr. Mister, which was honestly the biggest compliment we could get. There are, like, big drums from all over the world – congas, toms. And a horn section! There are so many layers that it feels like a party.”
