Heart have cancelled the remaining dates of their Rush Flush Tour for 2024 as singer Ann Wilson undergoes preventative chemotherapy.

The legendary American rock group, which first rose to fame in the 1970s, had previously had to cancel its European tour because Ann had to undergo a “time-critical medical procedure”.

Now her performances in North America have also been postponed because 74-year-old Ann announced on Instagram that she is undergoing cancer treatment and has been advised by doctors to take the rest of the year off.

She said: “Dear friends, I recently had surgery to remove something that turned out to be cancerous.

“The surgery was successful and I feel great, but my doctors are now advising me to have preventive chemotherapy and I have decided to do that.”

Ann continued, “To those who bought tickets, I really wish we could do these concerts. Please know that I fully intend to be back on stage in 2025. My team is sorting out those details and we will let you know the plan as soon as possible.

“Thank you for all the support. This is just a break. I have a lot more singing to do.”

She added: “With all due respect, this is the last public statement I wish to make on this matter.”

Ann was flooded with messages of support from her followers. @flippinfoxfarm wrote: “Don’t worry about us, just take care of yourselves! Sending you prayers and positive energy!”

@djsinnang echoed her sentiments, saying, “Ann, YOU are the most important thing you should be investing your energy in! All of us, your fans, will be there for you when and if you’re ready! Wishing you a speedy and full recovery!!”

@reevescaporicci added: “Take all the time you need to heal❤️❤️.”

Heart’s tour included numerous dates across North America from the end of this month through December, including Charleston, Portland, San Francisco and LA.

They had previously cancelled 14 concerts in France, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Belgium for June and July.

In addition, six UK shows were scheduled to take place between July 1 and 9, in London, Birmingham, Nottingham, Manchester, Leeds and Glasgow.

In May, Heart said in a statement posted on social media: “We regret to inform you that all upcoming Heart performances in Europe have been cancelled.”

“At the end of May, Ann Wilson will undergo a time-sensitive but routine medical procedure for which the recovery time is at least six weeks.”

It continues: “Heart deeply regrets this unfortunate circumstance and hopes to return to Europe soon. Refunds are available at the point of purchase if required.”

The band, which originally consisted of sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson, guitarist Roger Fisher, bassist Steve Fossen, drummer Michael Derosier and Howard Leese, is best known for their chart hit singles, including “Magic Man”, “Crazy on You” and “Barracuda” in the 1970s.

In the 1980s they made a comeback with “These Dreams” and their classic cover of “Alone”.

Heart is considered the first rock group with a woman as frontwoman and has sold over 35 million records in its decades-long career and has released four grammy Nominations.
