Israel attacks Palestinian terror cell in the West Bank

Aircraft carried out a targeted attack on the Nur Shams camp in the West Bank on Tuesday evening, taking out a terrorist cell while they were planting explosive devices, Israeli media reported. Israeli forces surrounded the group and attacked it from the air as it was planting the explosive devices.

Maariv, Citing Palestinian reports, the Palestinian Health Ministry claimed that five people were killed in the attack. The report stated that only one of the five killed were terrorists and several others were injured. The Palestinian Health Ministry put the number of victims at four, according to Reuters.

The attack occurred near an incident in Jenin in which 22-year-old Captain Alon Sacgiu was killed when his vehicle hit one of the explosive devices.

Increase in attacks in the region in the last 3 days

This is the third attack in the last three days; more than 50 attacks have been carried out in the region since the war began.

The Palestinian Health Ministry said Israeli fire killed a woman and a child after a military vehicle collided with an explosive device.

The ministry did not comment on the child’s age or whether those allegedly killed and injured were involved in attacks on Israeli soldiers operating in the area.

Sergeant Major (Res.) Yehuda Geto, 22, was killed when he came into contact with explosives.

The incident occurred during a counter-terrorism operation in the camp. According to initial investigations, a bomb exploded under a military vehicle carrying Geto, who served as the unit’s driver, and a commander.

The Israeli military forces said the military vehicle was in an area where there was no danger of explosives and therefore no search was carried out for it, Israeli media reported.
