Travis Kelce is fed up with reality TV and reveals he turned down a Netflix series

Travis Kelce is used to being followed by cameras as he travels the globe with his girlfriend Taylor Swift and wows his fans on the football field. But while the Super Bowl champion enjoys showing off his acting skills in front of the camera, he’s completely “over” the world of reality TV.

At a recent appearance at Kissing with the boys Podcast, Kelce, 34, was asked how he feels about participating in the upcoming Netflix reality series Recipienta sequel to the streamer’s 2023 series quarterback in which his teammate and Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes took part.

“After Pat did it, I was asked about it. I don’t know. I’d rather just be in it, man. I’m already busy enough with the podcast and everything,” Kelce said of the request to do the show.

“I’m sick of this reality shit. I’m out of this shit,” he added.

Kelce’s attitude toward reality TV may have something to do with the short-lived dating reality series Catch Kelcein which he appeared on E! in 2016. The tight end vividly recalled his experiences on the show when he hosted Saturday Night Live in March 2023. “It was kind of like The bacheloronly instead of roses I handed out footballs,” he began his monologue.

“And instead of watching, people weren’t watching,” Kelce joked. “It was a little embarrassing, but I got really good at reality TV.”

Although he’s done with reality TV, Kelce is definitely open to the world of scripted television, having landed a role in Ryan Murphy’s upcoming horror drama. grotesquein which he will make his acting debut.

“It was so much fun,” he said in the May 14 episode of his New heights Podcast. “Ryan Murphy is an incredible writer, director, producer, all of it, man. He’s just – there’s nothing he can’t do, and everyone helped me feel so comfortable.”

Kelce added: “And beyond that, they just gave me the direction and coaching that I needed to portray the role that I play.”

Recipient follows five of the NFL’s best pass catchers on and off the field during the 2023 season: Davante Adams, Justin Jefferson, George Kittle, Deebo Samuel and Amon-Ra St. Brown, according to an official press release. The series will be released on Netflix on July 10 with eight episodes.
