Hey Hondo! Answering your questions about Michigan State basketball, the top ten Spartans A

The Spartan Nation is fortunate to have one of the most prestigious college basketball programs led by a legendary Hall of Fame coach in Tom Izzo.

The history is fantastic, including multiple national titles, 26 consecutive NCAA appearances, and a lineage of players that are truly a who’s who of the sport. On top of that, no one has reached more Final Fours during his time as head coach of the Spartans than Tom Izzo.

So today I want to answer some of your questions about the basketball program.

Hey Hondo, I really enjoyed you including Scott Skiles and Xavier Tillman among the greatest. Who is on your list of the top 10 Michigan State basketball players of all time? Kevin W.

Hondo, I’m glad you’re back covering Spartan Nation. The coverage is fantastic again and you and the team are doing a great job. I was bummed after last season, but I’m really excited for this season now. Am I missing something? Kyle P

What’s missing? Tom Izzo is back, an excellent team and a Spartan team that gets overlooked. That’s when they shine.

Hondo, is it just my imagination or does Tom Izzo seem to be regaining some of his talent for recruiting? Trevor W.

I don’t think he ever lost it. Sometimes things just don’t work out for a lot of reasons. I think they’re on a good path right now.

Hondo, my main man, I’m doing somersaults because you’re back in a position to coach Michigan State. I was so disappointed in Xavier Booker last year. I read the SI (Spartan Nation) story that said he was being mocked if he goes in the first round next year. Do you think he has everything in place mentally to do that? Ryan C.

He’s always been mentally in control. He’s a fantastic kid and loves Tom Izzo and Tom Izzo loves him. He’s worked hard on his game and is becoming what he can be. Very few top players come in and perform at their best; it’s a process. He’s following that process and I think he’s going to be a great professional.
