Henry’s Club of Algonac will host its second annual Cornhole Fundraiser Extravaganza at Riverfront Park on July 13.

“Come join us for a great day right on the water in Algonac where we’ll be raising money for Henry’s Club,” said Amy Amiels, a member of Henry’s Club and owner of Amiels Enterprises. “We’ll be hosting two separate tournaments.”

The event will be held at the north end of Riverfront Park. Tournament participants must register prior to the event and 50% of all proceeds will go to Henry’s Club.

The first event to be hosted is a singles, double elimination, where you can bring your own partner. There will be two divisions – recreational and competitive – and the cost is $40 per team. Check-in begins at 11:30 a.m. and bags fly at 12:30 p.m.

The second event is a two-division blind draw tournament with prize money of $20 per person. Check-in begins at 3:30 p.m. and baggage claim is at 4:30 p.m.

Amiels said non-alcoholic beverages and food at Jet’s Pizza will be available for purchase at the events.

“We would like to thank Jet’s Pizza in Algonac for sponsoring this event again and providing pizza and drinks for purchase to our players and spectators,” she said. “We can’t wait for this event.”

She said that after last year’s cornhole tournament, Henry’s Club decided to host the event annually.

“Everyone had a great time and it was a fun event for all skill levels,” she said.

Amiels said she is looking forward to raising funds to help others and having fun while doing it.

She said the proceeds will help Henry’s Club support schools. The club hosts a Glow Party to benefit the hygiene lockers at Algonac schools and other events to help with birthday gift boxes at the elementary schools.

“We also helped families in need at Easter and Christmas,” she said.

The Algonac City Council unanimously approved Henry’s Club’s special permit for the Cornhole Fundraiser Extravaganza at its June 18 meeting.

At the meeting, Mayor Rocky Gillis said all documentation had been received and reviewed and approved by the St. Clair County administration and Sheriff’s Office.

“Thank you, Henry’s Club, for bringing another activity to Algonac,” said Council Member Michael Bembas.

Amiels said an upcoming Mom to Mom Sale on Aug. 10 will benefit Henry’s Club and the Pearl Beach Lions Club. It will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Pearl Beach Lions Club, 9590 Phelps Road in Clay Township.

The cost to rent a table is $25 and the cost for coat racks is $5, a flyer for the event says. Coat racks will not be provided. To RSVP, call 832-265-9696 or email [email protected].

Henry’s Club is made up of a group of friends from Algonac who came together and decided to form a club to support their community and raise money for those in need. Henry stands for Helping Everyone Needing Resources Yearlong.
