Micah Parsons and his Cowboys teammate engage in a war of words over his podcast

Micah Parsons and his Cowboys teammate engage in a war of words over his podcast

Micah Parsons’ off-field activities may not sit well with his Cowboys teammates.

During his appearance on the podcast “All Facts No Brakes” with former Pro Bowl receiver Keyshawn Johnson, Dallas safety Malik Hooker chimed in on Parsons’ podcasting hobby.

“My advice to Micah would be, just make sure we’re OK and stay where you are,” Hooker said on June 27. “Because if we’re out there working and the running game is terrible, but you’re doing a podcast every week – and you know the running game is terrible – what do you really care about? Do you care about the people watching your podcast, or do you care about the success of our team and the Super Bowl that we’re trying to get to?”

Parsons launched the podcast “The Edge with Micah Parsons” in 2023 and was named president of Bleacher Report’s Gridiron division in May, which focuses on the company’s creative football content.

The All-Pro edge rusher didn’t seem happy with Hooker’s words or the way he delivered them.

“I just wish you would have told me that, but on a podcast!” Parsons wrote in a now-deleted tweet, the Dallas Morning News reported. “And you have my number, family! And you’re my locker mate! So you could have said that anytime! And you do realize I’m doing the podcast on our day off! Why don’t we talk about everyone’s preparation and focus.”

Hooker then responded himself, seemingly putting out the burgeoning fire by calling Parsons his “little brother” and saying, “His podcast doesn’t do any harm.”

Parsons has been one of the NFL’s best defenders since entering the league in 2021, amassing 40.5 sacks and 51 tackles for loss, ranking fourth in each during that span.

The edge rusher and the safety have gotten along well with each other over the past year and have each started 15 or more games for the Cowboys.

Parsons, edge rusher DeMarcus Lawrence and cornerback DaRon Bland led a strong Dallas defense that ranked fourth in expected points allowed per game last season.

Despite Dallas’ efficiency and performance on offense and defense, the team lost its playoff opener in the NFC Divisional Round to the Green Bay Packers, providing further food for thought to critics who have mocked the team’s postseason struggles.

Due to his media activities, Parsons was particularly visible during the offseason.

The 25-year-old has worked regularly with Texans superstar quarterback CJ Stroud. The two even took part in sumo wrestling matches in Japan and also provided insights during the 2024 NFL Draft.

In addition, Parsons faced criticism from the baseball community after claiming he could achieve a batting average between .180 and .200 throughout an entire MLB season.

With training camp starting in just three weeks, Parsons has a new opportunity to clear things up a bit – and possibly clear things up with Hooker.
