Kalyn Erickson dominates at the FD Kennel Club dog show

This weekend, Kalyn Erickson, Humboldt’s purebred dog prodigy, attended the Fort Dodge Kennel Club dog show at the Webster County Fairgrounds.
Erickson attended the event with her mother, Erica Dunlavey, who also competed in the show. The mother-daughter duo were supported by their family, who watched Erickson’s competition from the sidelines.
The connection between Erickson and her current show mate Athena is obvious. When the pair entered the ring on Saturday, the room was brightly lit. By the time the show was over, the pair had collected several ribbons. They won Regular Group Two, Owner Handler Group One and Owner Handler Best in Show awards.
Erickson and Athena currently rank first for the American Staffordshire breed in the American Kennel Club’s Owner Handled Series. Erickson is also currently ranked 16th in the top 20 in the junior group overall and fourth in the top 20 in the junior group for the terrier group.

Correction: The fifteenth paragraph of the article on this topic published in this week’s Humboldt Independent states: “The connection between Dunlavey and her current show companion Athena is obvious…” The last name Dunlavey was used instead of Erickson. This is incorrect information as it was Erickson who showed Athena, not Dunlavey. This was a typo and we apologize for any confusion.
