Dan Gilbert is not only the richest person in the state, but also its biggest benefactor.

Daniel Gilbert was born on January 17, 1962 in Detroit and is the co-founder and majority owner of Rocket Mortgage. In addition to Rocket Mortgage, he is also the founder of Rock Ventures and the owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

He earned his bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and a juris doctor from Wayne State University Law School.

According to Forbes, Gilbert has used his wealth to “invest $5.6 billion to buy and redevelop a series of buildings in downtown Detroit as part of a plan to create 24,000 jobs.”
