LOS ANGELES, July 2, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — From performing on Off-Broadway stages to wowing audiences in pop and jazz clubs in their hometown Manhattan And Los Angeles to the release of highly acclaimed independent jazz and pop albums, Susannah B has had an influential, cross-genre career.

On their latest album with the perfect title Testimonialsthe veteran singer/songwriter offers new perspectives on some of her favorite previously recorded original songs, including recently released lead singles “Talkin’ to Myself,” “Be All Right,” “I Got Lucky,” and “Secrets & Lies.”

Susannah complements these stirring originals with a beautiful reinterpretation of Billy Joel’sVienna” and a soulful, contemporary interpretation of “It’s Alright to Cry” – a soulful song that her mother, a renowned Broadway composer and lyricist, Carol Hallwrote for Free to be you and methe children’s entertainment project of the 70s by the actress and author Marlo Thomas. Hall was best known for composing music and lyrics for the iconic Broadway musical The most beautiful little brothel in Texas.

“It’s okay to cry” is ready for publication July 31 – before the eagerly awaited drop of Testimonials 8 September. Testimonials will also include a mystical pop version of the last single “My Time Now”, whose lyrics resonate freshly from the perspective of a mother of grown children.

“I have the album Testimonials because I now openly celebrate my age, feel blessed to be in solidarity with other late bloomers and to have enjoyed such a varied career, with time out in between when I could be a devoted mother,” says Susannah, who began her recording career in the 2000s with Happy today (2003) and Let’s pretend (2008).

“As we get older, we see things differently, and a song can mean something completely different at different points in the journey. The concept of Testimonials also refers to the fact that different people can experience the same thing, but their individual perspectives cause them to react differently to the shared experience. This fascinates me, and I spend a lot of time thinking about how I consciously see the world. I think many of humanity’s problems would be solved if we simply considered other people’s perspectives and did not expect everyone to see things the way we do.”

Testimonials is produced by Susannah and keyboarder Michael Farrellbest known for his work with Alanis MorrisetteAnd Macy GrayThe other band members are also experienced touring musicians with Morissette, including drummer Victor Indrizzo (whose CV includes Avril Lavigne And Brandi Carlile), double bassist and electric bassist Sean Hurleyguitarist David Levita (Hill of Faith and Tim McGraw) and saxophonist Sal LozanoThe band’s other successes include Beck, Colbie Caillat, Kacey Musgraves, Sarah Bareilles, Lana Del RayShakira and Eminem.
