Family meets with Fulton County District Attorney Willis

The family of Deacon Johnny Hollman has scheduled a meeting with Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis for Tuesday.

The family is demanding arrests and charges in connection with Hollman’s death, not only against the former police officer who used the Taser on him, but also against the tow truck driver involved.

On August 10, 2023, Hollman was shot multiple times with a taser after refusing to sign a traffic ticket, resulting in cardiac arrhythmia and his death.

The family’s lawyer claims that the tow truck driver also contributed to the fatal incident.

Hollman’s death was ruled a homicide, and although the Atlanta City Council agreed to a $3.8 million settlement, no charges were filed.

After Hollman’s death, Atlanta police revised their ticketing procedures to avoid arresting people who refuse to sign traffic tickets.

Instead of arresting the driver personally, officers now write “Refusal to Sign” on the signature line and issue a copy of the charge.
