Sonic announces a .99 savings menu; here’s what they’re offering

(WJET/WFXP) — Sonic Drive-In is the latest fast-food restaurant to join the growing “price war” to attract more customers as inflation continues to drive up prices.

The “FUN.99” menu features many of the most popular items plus a new addition, all for just $1.99. Customers can grab a Quarter Pound Double Cheeseburger, Chili Cheese Coney, Queso Wrap, Small Tots and any 16-ounce shake for $1.99 each.

Now more than ever, consumers value affordable food options, but they shouldn’t have to settle for the same old, boring discount deals or bland meals. Many restaurant brands promote cheap meals and discount deals, and you see a lot of recycled ideas with limited options. At SONIC, we wanted to do something different – something fun – so we focused on variety, which is why we’re introducing the new $1.99 Menu, or as we like to call it, the FUN.99 Menu. The FUN.99 Menu is all about choice and fun, whether you want one of our dozen shake flavors, a chili cheese coney, or our legendary tots for a midday snack – it’s all for just $1.99.

Ryan Dickerson, Chief Marketing Officer of SONIC

The menu prices are available all day every day and remain a permanent addition to the menu.

Over the past ten years, prices at fast food chains have risen by 31 percent. McDonalds recorded the highest increase with an inflation rate of 100 percent.

This comes as a “price war” is unfolding in the restaurant industry. Many chains are beginning to offer heavily discounted deals to attract more customers. McDonald’s recently announced a new $5 meal deal to address concerns about rising prices.

Wendy’s and Starbucks also now offer inexpensive meals. Wendy’s offers a breakfast for $3 and Starbucks offers a breakfast sandwich and coffee combo for $6.
