“Witness to a miracle”: Christian singer praises God while her parents are baptized

Darren Mulligan, lead singer of the Christian band We Are Messengers, was thrilled when his parents took the step of faith and were baptized last Sunday.

“My mother, Carmel Mulligan, and my father, Frank Mulligan, were baptized last night in the church where I was converted 17 years ago,” Mulligan said on social media.

The singer said that he did not go to church as a child in Ireland. His parents were not Christians. Mulligan loved music as a child, which led him to pursue a career as a musician.

He met his future wife, Heidi, when Mulligan was just 19 years old. The couple endured many hardships during their courting years, including Mulligan flying to the US to pursue his dream of becoming a rock star. He led a life of excess, drinking and promiscuity. During this time, Heidi was invited to church in Ireland, and it was her newfound faith in Jesus that ultimately turned everything around.

“We watched along with three generations of Mulligans who knew nothing about Jesus before my wife @heididresing came to faith in 2006 and the fire of God spread through our family. It was so beautiful to witness.”

Mulligan dedicated his life to Christ in 2008, just weeks before he married Heidi. The couple have three children together.

“I remember each of my children as young children praying night after night for their grandparents, hoping that they would dedicate their lives to Jesus. Last night we all witnessed a miracle.”

Mulligan encourages all of his fans who do not have a Christian family to keep their faith.

“Keep praying, friends, don’t give up. Trust in Jesus.”
