(Text and photos by David Whealon) The National Tractor Pullers Association (NTPA) opened its 2024 Grand National season the first weekend in June with a trip to Benson, NC to the spectacular Galot Motorsports Park pull track for the annual “Mule City 300.” Over 100 Big Iron Pullers from across the country were ready to compete in six awesome classes of thunderous action on our Tarheel topsoil. The program featured the GMS Manufacturing & Machine Light Modified blower classes as well as the mighty Modified Mini Rod Tractors. A great display of 4WD trucks was also on hand to round out the field of ground pounding muscle. The more traditional alcohol and diesel classes of Super Stock Open Tractors, Yoder Popcorn Pro Stock Tractors and Light Super Stock Tractors completed the lineup to put on a fantastic show for the legions of pulling fans in attendance on this storybook weekend. With both tracks wide open, the two-day extravaganza ran smoothly, featuring some of the best NTPA pulling competitors in the world.
