Famous Latino actor and soccer player visits restaurant in Phoenix

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — The Phoenix restaurant Mariscos Playa Hermosa received a special visit on Sunday morning.

Ted Lasso actor Cristo Fernandez and soccer legend Hector Herrara took over to send owner Emmanuell Maldonado and his family to the COPA America games.

Fernandez and Herrara helped prepare the dishes, clear the tables and chatted with the customers.

“It means everything. We’re a small, Latino family business here in Phoenix, Arizona. We work really hard, just like so many small businesses here in the city, and we do our best every day. To have this experience. To be in the spotlight, not just as a family, but as a business here in the city, means everything to us,” said Maldonado.

Maldonado and his family have owned the restaurant since 2002 and said it has been a long struggle to be successful, but they thank the community, Fernandez and Herrara for all their support.

Maldonado said the restaurant will remain closed for renovations but will reopen its doors on July 5.
