Legendary radio DJ Delilah and her soothing voice make everyone emotional on TikTok

Legendary radio DJ Delilah is now officially on TikTok, and it’s safe to say that many adults who once found her soothing voice a comfort are now delighted to hear her on their FYPs—and see her pretty face.

As she settles into her new social media fame, Delilah is learning the ropes of TikTok and she took a minute to respond to one of the numerous comments from users who have the fondest memories of hearing her voice on the radio as a child. “You raised so many of us and we don’t even know it,” one person wrote. “You were our safe place when many of us didn’t have a safe place. Your voice made us feel loved.” (This is trueshe whispers and raises a hand in agreement.)

“What a beautiful compliment,” she began. “If you grew up in a home where there was no healthy love, you weren’t nurtured, you weren’t made to feel valued or valuable, you had to earn someone’s love, or you felt like no one cared about you, then I’m sorry. I’m truly sorry. And if I’ve helped fill that void a little, I know it takes a lot of work to heal your heart.”

“My voice and my radio show cannot possibly fill the void in your heart if you did not have the love of a mother or a father or a secure family or if you were not cared for,” she continued.

If her listeners ever heard something she said and thought, “Delilah, how did you know I needed to hear that?” she believed it was the work of God or some other higher power who knew that her words were exactly what they needed to hear at that moment, only “in a human voice.”

Delilah, now 64, gives her fans behind-the-scenes glimpses of her life on TikTok, from the cute emus on her farm to sweet moments with some of her 15 children. Not only is she still on the radio (!), she’s dedicated her life to raising her biological and adopted children, joking that if you listened to her anytime between the ’80s and now, she’s been “raising kids” every single decade since then.

“I have tears in my eyes when I listen to this,” wrote one commenter. “In the car I drive to Delilah – falling asleep as a child with your voice in the background – the sound of my childhood.”

Another commenter summed it up perfectly when they wrote, “I am so grateful to you in the past and now. You were and are such a comfort. I really needed to hear that. Thank you.” And we couldn’t agree more.
