It is the love whose name one is not actually allowed to speak: that between an amphibious superhero (and really good swimmer) who can talk to sea creatures and his beloved octopus.

We first met Ambrosius before the fourth season of The Boys, when The Deep (Chace Crawford) was caught enjoying a private moment with the lovesick cephalopod.

In the first episode of season four, Deep promised his Vought colleagues that “the octopus” had been taken care of and was a thing of the past, but a later scene revealed the opposite to be the case. And it’s not just a casual affair.

“We wouldn’t have to hide our love anymore…” the eight-legged animal said sensually through the glass of her aquarium, inviting Deep to run to the sea with her. “We could just be Kevin and Ambrosius.”

But who is the sensual voice behind the sea creature? We won’t keep you waiting any longer, because the voice is a real blast:

IT’S TILDA SWINTON.

No, we didn’t expect that either. Even though we knew Swinton had been cast in the new season, we just didn’t put two and two together.

This isn’t her first superhero appearance – she played the Ancient One in Doctor Strange and The Avengers: Endgame – but she’s better known for her roles in ambitious arthouse productions like We Need to Talk About Kevin and The Grand Budapest Hotel.

But it is precisely these unexpected decisions that we love her.

The young The first three episodes of the fourth season will air this Thursday (June 13) on Prime Videowith new episodes every week. Seasons 1-3 and spin-off Generation V are also streamed on Prime Video.
