George RR Martin gives fascinating answer to rumors about an adaptation of the film/TV series “ELDEN RING”

Last week, after the release of Elden Ringfirst major expansion, Shadow of the Earth TreeHidetaka Miyazaki, president of FromSoftware, hinted at the possibility of turning the game into a movie or television series.

“I see no reason to reject another interpretation or adaptation of Elden Ring, for example a film,” Miyazaki, who also directed the game, told The Guardian: “But I don’t think I or From Software have the knowledge or ability to produce something in any other medium. So that’s where a very strong partner would come in. We would need to build a lot of trust and agreement on whatever we want to achieve, but there is definitely interest.”

Naturally, Miyazaki’s comments sparked all sorts of rumors and speculation about a possible adaptation. Although nothing official has been announced yet, it sounds like something may be brewing.

In a recent post on his blog, acclaimed author George RR Martin, co-author of Elden Ringhas addressed these rumors. Martin, who was primarily responsible for building the world of Elden Ringwrote:

Oh, and as for any rumors you may have heard about a feature film or television series based on ELDEN RING… I have nothing to say. Not a word, no, nothing, I know nothing, you never heard a peep from me, mom, mom, mom. What rumor?

On the surface, that doesn’t seem like much. But the fact that Martin has been so keen to deny the rumors seems to indicate that an adaptation of some sort is in the works. Why else would he continue to claim that he “nothing to say” about the rumors?

He is best known as the author of the series of epic fantasy novels A song of ice and fireMartin had unlimited freedom in designing the background story of Elden Ring while Miyazaki served as the lead writer for the in-game narrative.

Like many games from FromSoftware, Elden RingThe story of is not exactly linear. In fact, much of the game’s narrative is presented through flavor text, optional discussions with non-playable characters, visual narratives, and player interpretations. This style of non-linear storytelling can make it difficult for some to follow the story of Elden RingAs intimidating as Elden Ring may be – be it from a gameplay or story perspective – there is no denying that it has a lot of narrative potential for adaptation, be it as a television series or a film.

FromSoftware, owner of Elden Ring IP hasn’t officially announced anything yet, but it certainly sounds like something is in the works.
