Halsey hints at Britney Spears song – Music News

Halsey piqued her fans’ curiosity by sharing a snippet of a new song she wrote that samples a Britney Spears classic.

The singer surprised her followers when she uploaded footage of herself performing a cover song on social media on Monday.

The 29-year-old singer had bright pink hair in the video clip and wore a simple white T-shirt with the words “Lucky” printed on the front.

Music fans immediately noticed that the accompanying soundtrack was a cover version of 42-year-old Britney’s song “Lucky” from 2000 – a moderate pop song about a lonely actress.

Halsey shared the clip on her Instagram page and wrote: “When I was five, it always felt like Britney was singing directly to me. 24 years later, these words hit me differently. I love you forever.”

Last month, Halsey released a single titled “The End,” which serves as the title track from her upcoming fifth studio album.

The title of her next record has yet to be revealed, but fans are convinced it will be called ‘For My Last Trick’ after noticing that the chart-topper has registered a web address with that name.

It will be her first album since her 2021 record “If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power.”

Halsey had previously hinted that her fifth album would be emotional, writing on Instagram last September: “I split myself in half every day so I can give you my deepest wounds (and a handful of perfect joys) for the fifth time in ten years.”

Britney released her ninth and final album, Glory, in 2016.

The star confirmed her retirement in January and flatly denied a Rolling Stone report claiming she was working on a new album. She refuted the report online, declaring, “I will never return to the music industry.”
