Since 2018, the leading U.S. all-girls national team has lost to Team Finland at the ICU World Cheerleading Championships. In this six-episode limited series Redemption: USA cheers against the worldWe follow the team from its inception to the 2023 ICU World Cheerleading Championship. The team is on its way to regaining the gold medal, and it is not an easy path.

In this documentary you will get the raw, unfiltered and true version of the training experience for the athletes and coaches. Every cheerleader reacts differently when they hear that “cheerleading is not a sport,” but these girls prove that cheerleaders are athletes too.

It is not easy to be the best in the world at something. Many are used to the US national teams performing excellently, but it was not Start like this. The path to team naming is challenging and only the mentally strong will survive.

When you are put on the mat at the beginning of training, you do not solidify your position until the end. Changes are made only days before the stand-up and the coaches have to make difficult decisions to ensure the right combination hits the floor in the ICU in Orlando. Let’s get to know some of the characters in REDEMPTION: USA cheers against the world.

Head Coach Tony Nash is one of the best cheerleading coaches in the world and was even involved in innovating cheerleading in the United States. What many don’t know, however, is that Tony is going through a medical battle that is putting life into perspective for him and his family. In addition to being a coach, Tony is also a dedicated father and husband whose main goal is to be the best for his family. While he is looking for redemption on the mat, he is also looking for answers when it comes to his health.

Mark Coleman, head coach at Morehead State University, is a mentor coach for Team Finland. Mark also has athletes on the U.S. All-Girls team cheering him on in Morehead. This seems to be a conflict of interest for Tony and his team.

Madelyn comes from the University of West Georgia and training for USA Cheer is pretty tough on her both physically and mentally. Madelyn faces challenges outside of cheerleading as well and just before the finals at ICU in 2022 something happens that could affect her entire demeanor.

Journey is a power athlete, but even the best of the best face tough challenges. Journey’s back is constantly giving her problems and ultimately impacting her ability to compete. This leads to a chain reaction of events for the team at the 2022 ICU World Cheerleading Championship.

You’ll learn that Asia, the USA All Girl’s assistant coach, was also an athlete on the team before becoming a coach. In her first year in 2018, the team failed to win a gold medal for the first time. Asia has never won gold before, so her will to win is stronger than ever.

Assistant coach Lindsey was also an athlete on the team before she became a coach. But Lindsey has has already won a gold medal, so she knows what it feels like to see all the hard work pay off. She is determined to help the team get back to the top where it belongs.

Cora never imagined she would be playing on a team like the USA. From the reserve position to competing, this NC State athlete is making big dreams come true.

In addition to being the teams’ choreographer, Blake is also a close friend of head coach Tony. Blake is very close to Tony’s family and ultimately helped Tony get through a difficult period in his life.

Paige and Michaiah are two strong leaders and exceptional athletes. They help to hold the team together during tough practices, not only through their words but also through their actions. They may be teammates at USA, but in the college cheerleading world, they are rivals!
