Watch Stevie Nicks’ emotional reaction during Taylor Swift’s show

Taylor Swift dedicated the live debut of her new song “Clara Bow” to Stevie Nicks on Sunday during the third and final date of her Eras Tour at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland.

The thoughtful track, which appears on Swift’s latest album The “Tortured Poets” sectionpays tribute to the Fleetwood Mac singer with the words: “You look like Stevie Nicks / Hair and lips from 1975 / The crowd goes wild on their fingertips / Half moonlight, a total eclipse.”

Swift praised Nicks before playing “Clara Bow” on acoustic guitar as the first of two surprise songs during her performance. “The reason I want to play this tonight is because a friend of mine is here,” she said to thunderous applause. “A friend of mine is here watching the show. She’s really one of the reasons why I or any artist can do what we can do now. She paved the way for us and has been a mentor to so many artists that you don’t even know she’s doing it. She’s just friends with so many artists just to be a guiding hand. I can’t tell you how rare that is. She’s a hero of mine and also someone I can tell any secret to – she would never tell anyone. She’s really helped me through so much over the years. I’m talking about Stevie Nicks. So I’m going to play ‘Clara Bow’ for her for the first time.”

How Taylor Swift helped Stevie Nicks with her grief

Swift followed “Clara Bow” with a piano interpretation of “You’re on Your Own, Kid” from 2022 midnightNicks, who was sitting in the audience, could be seen wiping tears from her eyes during the performance. The singer had previously explained that the song helped her mourn the loss of Fleetwood Mac’s Christine McVie.

“Thank you to Taylor Swift for doing that for me, writing a song called ‘You’re on Your Own, Kid,'” Nicks said during a 2023 concert. “That’s the sadness I feel. As long as Chris was there, even on the other side of the world, we didn’t have to talk on the phone. We weren’t really phone buddies. Then we went back to Fleetwood Mac, came in, and it was just, ‘Little sister, how are you?’ It was like in all our 47 years, not a minute had passed, not a single argument.

“So when there were two of us, we were both on our own, kids, we always were. And now I have to learn to be on my own, kid, all alone. So, you (the audience) help me with that. Thank you.”
